Explore the Corsair City on foot
Let yourself be lured by the activities around the hotel
Thanks to the exceptional location of the Hotel Ibis Styles Saint Malo Historical Centre, at the heart of the Corsair City of Saint-Malo, you’ll be able to enjoy a wealth of activities on foot.
The hotel is located along the town’s ramparts, which were fashioned by the architect Vauban. You’ll have plenty of time to stroll along them and sample the delights of the Corsair City, be it in the day, or in the evening whilst you admire the sunset. Beyond the ramparts, which you can access via the Grand Porte gateway opposite the hotel, you’ll look straight out onto the Route du Rhum yacht basin..
The location of the hotel within the walled city or Intra Muros, also offers the visitor easy access to a variety of beaches: Plage du Môle, Plage de Bon Secours, Plage de l'Eventail and the Grande Plage du Sillon. On the Plage de Bon Secours, why not make the most of the services provided by the local sailing school?
As you make your way around the ramparts, the islands of Grand Bé and Petit Bé are within easy walking distance.
Don’t miss a trip to the National Fort, a Vauban-designed fort, on the Plage du Sillon at low tide.
Immerse yourself in the history of Saint-Malo during a trip to the Town Museum within the castle. Here you can discover the secrets of the Corsairs with a tour of the "Etoile du Roy" ship and the Maison d'Asfeld corsair’s residence.
Also within a 5-minute walk of the hotel are the Le Palais du Grand Large and the Quai Malo, the Palais des Congrès convention centre and a plethora of exhibitions. The town of Saint-Malo also plays host to festivals throughout the year, including Quai des Bulles for comic strip enthusiasts and the Etonnants Voyageurs literary festival.
The fine sand beaches of Saint-Malo span some 8km in all. They witness some huge tides, which are some of the most impressive in Europe. During the spring tides you’ll be able to enjoy the delights of shellfish gathering at low water.
